Explaining a Failed Experiment

First Spirit (Alan): Good evening this is Alan.

Sitters: Good evening Alan.

Spirit: As to last week, we will not be experimenting in that form for some considerable time again, because as I think you would say, “We opened a can of worms”, or I think that is your expression?

Sitters: “Yes”.

Spirit: But we would say, “We opened a stable of donkeys”, because that’s what they were!  We had the idea for a number of people to perhaps have the opportunity to say, “Hello”, to see if they could do it – but you know what it is like when an opportunity is there at a sale… I think you have stampedes?

Sitters: Yes.  (Laughter)

Spirit: Well that’s what happened, so that is finished for now.

Sitter: Thank you very much.

Spirit: Tonight I think we will have our charming and sedate friend Ling, once more.

Sitter: Excuse me is it all right to keep the fan going?

Spirit: You are hearing me all right… I am getting through?

Sitters Yes thank you.

Spirit: Right we’ll leave it, and if it is not too hot in the room could you sit for half an hour afterwards again please?

Sitters: Certainly.

Spirit: But I leave it to your discretion.  Don’t put yourselves under stress.

Sitter: Thank you.

Spirit: Good night and God bless you, this was Alan speaking.

Sitters: Good night Alan.
