Chapter Two - Life in The Spirit World

Spirit (Ling): Greetings.

Tonight for a short time we will talk on something that I feel sure, will interest you very much . . . ‘Memory’. [Mirth]

Now I am being a little, (I should say, ‘we’) are being a little unfair, because it is memory when you are with us.  It is a completely different phenomenon to what you experience on earth. For example...

After your initial time here in which you are adjusting, you will feel no pain, because you haven’t a physical body, and the thing is, that your memory is such that you may think of an occasion in which you have perhaps been badly hurt having broken an arm, burned yourself, been in a car accident; something that has caused at the time, a great deal of pain.

But none of that will you remember. You will merely have the emotion. You are there, your memory is such, that it will come back to you as clear as though it had just happened...  but not the pain involved... just the emotion.

Now this applies, and it is very remarkable, to any situation that you may wish to know about. For example, - you may be interested in the making of the little Irish boats, the little round ones, and you can immediately be there in that period of time, (as you know it), that those little boats were being made. You can partake of the emotion of the people who are creating it.

This would also apply to a battle. The drama, the noise, the whole atmosphere, all you would be very much aware of. As a being in a physical body, even if you weren’t hurt yourself, you would be very aware of the pain of others; but when you are with us, you are there in reality, but you have the emotion that you would have, if you were watching it all on a film.

So you can learn all about history, any aspect you want to know, as far back as you want to go.

This again, does have its limitations insomuch as you have to work for this privilege. Your own lifetime on earth memory is readily available for you. Other memories are earned; but the average good living person has a vast world open to them...  painlessly! It is a wonderful thing to think of.

This applies also to seeing great works of art, productions of great musicals that have been, plays, and as I mentioned earlier, the dramas of the world... the opening of the Suez Canal, imagine being there, or an interest perhaps for your people, the first men to arrive on your country’s shores. It is all there!
